ECG recoups GHS 3.1bn in revenue mobilisation exercise
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)has collected 3.1 million out of the 5.7 billion owed by customers across the country after its month-long national revenue mobilisation exercise.
Addressing the media in Accra on Wednesday (4 May), after the exercise, managing director of ECG, Samuel Mahama said “Out of the GHC 5.7 billion ECG manage to recoup GHC 3.1 billion.”
“The number of companies that have collapsed that we cannot find in terms of some taking the meters and some of them the physical location not present. Their total bills put together is about GHC 750 million and the last group is people who are post-paid customers who probably want to give the benefit of doubt some of them it was true.”
Spared
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is assuring customers they will be spared if they report staff of the company who connected them illegally to the national grid.
ECG collected GHC 3.1 million out of the GHC 5.7 billion owed by customers across the country after its month-long national revenue mobilisation exercise.
“If you are the bad nut, report yourself to me, let me fix it by giving you a flat rate, if you dont and I come to you, you will face the full rigorous of the law.”
“.I will forgive if you point out who did the illegal connection for you, that’s my challenge to you, if ECG is to catch you with illegal connection, if you provide the name of the person who did the illegal connection,” Mahama said.
