UEFA Nations League Standings and Permutations: Who is Through, Who Can be Promoted, Who Could be Relegated?

The race for the quarter-finals of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League is heating up as Matchday 4 has come to a close, revealing crucial standings and implications across all four leagues.

With Germany and Spain already securing their places in the next round, the focus now shifts to the remaining teams vying for advancement or battling relegation.

League A: A Tight Contest

In League A, the final standings are starting to crystallize. Germany has emerged as the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals, showcasing dominant performances throughout the league phase. Spain has also clinched a spot, leaving several teams fighting for the remaining positions.

Key upcoming matches include Portugal facing Poland and Scotland taking on Croatia on November 15. Portugal can secure their quarter-final berth with a draw, while Croatia needs a win to keep their hopes alive. Poland, who must win to stay in contention, faces a daunting task against the Portuguese side.

Belgium and France are also in the mix, with their crucial clash on November 14. Italy can qualify for the next stage with a draw or win against Belgium, while France needs at least a draw against Israel to secure their spot.

League B: Promotion and Relegation Battles

League B’s narrative is equally compelling. Czechia is on the brink of promotion, needing a win against Albania to secure their place in League A. The stakes are high for Ukraine, who must avoid defeat against Georgia to keep their promotion hopes alive.

In another pivotal matchup, Greece faces England, where Greece can achieve promotion with a draw. Meanwhile, Finland must beat the Republic of Ireland to avoid relegation.

League C and D: The Fight for Survival

As we look to League C, Sweden has a chance to seal their promotion against Slovakia. Both teams are eager for a win, but Slovakia also has the potential to climb to the second tier with a victory.

In League D, Gibraltar and San Marino will clash, with both teams eyeing promotion. The outcome could seal the fate of Liechtenstein, who needs a win to stay in contention.

With only a few days left until the next round of matches, the tension is palpable as teams strive for glory and survival. Fans are eagerly anticipating the outcomes that will shape the final standings and determine which teams will advance to the quarter-finals and which will face relegation.
