Unilever Ghana Partners with FirstBank Ghana on Junior Internship Programme

Unilever Ghana, manufacturer of household fast-moving commodities, is the latest to partner with FirstBank Ghana on the Bank’s Junior Internship Programme.

The Junior Internship Programme (JIP) introduced by FirstBank Ghana in 2023 seeks to expose the Bank’s child customers to the art of banking by taking them through the basics in banking. The children who enroll in the programme intern at the bank branches to gain hands-on experience in banking.

Unilever Ghana through the partnership has presented boxes of Pepsodent toothpastes and toothbrushes as well as over 1000 exercise books to be given to the children who participate in the JIP as Junior Interns.

The company donated the items through its Oral Care Unit. Marketing Manager of Oral Care at Unilever Ghana, Vera Boadu commenting said Unilever is passionate at exposing children at an early age to the importance of proper basic personal hygiene, especially their oral hygiene, to enable them to take good care of their dental health throughout their lives.

“At Unilever Ghana, we cherish the need for children to be conscious of their personal health, especially at an early age. We are excited to partner with FirstBank on the JIP project. The bank is catching them young as a form of corporate social responsibility. We share this goal hence we coming on board”, she said.

Receiving the items, Head of Retail Banking at FirstBank Ghana, Allen Quaye expressed gratitude to Unilever Ghana for sharing in the bank’s goals for the children.

“The Junior Internship Programme is an activity that FirstBank Ghana is passionate about. We believe in empowering these young ones with financial literacy at an early age, we believe this will help them become disciplined in financial matters. Unilever coming on board is excellent because they also believe in exposure to good hygiene at an early age. Together, we believe we will add value to the lives of these children”, he said.

The FirstBank Ghana Junior Internship Programme will run till the middle of September when schools are expected to reopen. It is open to children between the ages of 11 and 14 or children in Upper Primary to JHS level. The main goal of the programme is to aid Children to explore banking.

Unilever Ghana’s partnership of the programme follows similar partnerships with Sarkodie Foundation and support from Junior Graphic.
