SIC records 12.5% gain in share price to emerge sole gainer on local bourse

SIC Insurance Company Limited (SIC) emerged sole gainer on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) after trading session on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

SIC at the end of trading session posted a 12.5% gain in its share price, closing stock price for the equity was GHS 0.09 from the opening stock price of GHS 0.08.

The equity also emerged the most traded stock in both volume and value traded.

SIC recorded a total volume and value traded of 1,003,356 and GHS 90,302.04 respectively.

The benchmark GSE-CI on the back of the share price gain in SIC, gained 0.18 points to close at 2,695.91 on the third trading day of the week representing a YTD return  of -3.35%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also gained 0.34 points to close trading at 2,117.99 translating into a YTD return of -1.57%.

Market capitalisation thus went up by GH¢1.95milliontoclose at GH¢63.36 billion representing a YTD decline of -1.74% in 2022.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,127,604 shares valued at GH¢ 265,555.35 were traded in twelve equities (12) compared to1,013,640 shares valued at GH¢2,137,160.56 which changed hands yesterday, 15th February, 2022.

Wednesday’s data shows 11.24% improvement in volume and 87.57% reduction in value traded.
