Ghana Secures Broadcast Rights for 2026 FIFA World Cup
Ghanaian football fans will be able to follow every moment of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live after the government successfully secured broadcasting rights for the tournament through a combination of state support and fundraising efforts.
Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, announced the development during the presentation of a GH¢5 million donation from GCB Bank towards the Black Stars fundraising campaign.
According to the Sports Minister, the collaborative efforts between government and corporate institutions have made it possible for the tournament to be televised across several media platforms in Ghana, ensuring nationwide access to football’s biggest spectacle.
“Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” Kofi Adams stated.
The donation by GCB Bank forms part of a broader initiative aimed at mobilising financial support for the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Government recently launched the fundraising drive to encourage corporate Ghana, institutions, and stakeholders to contribute towards the preparation and support of the national team as the Black Stars continue their build-up to the global tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico, will mark the first edition of the tournament to feature 48 teams.
The announcement is expected to excite football supporters across Ghana, with millions now set to enjoy live coverage of the competition as the Black Stars aim to make a strong impression on the world stage.
