Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Ansah Urges Graduates to Embrace Failure as Methodist Church Ghana Outdoors First Cohort of Wesleyan Entrepreneurship School

The Methodist Church Ghana has held the maiden graduation ceremony of its Wesleyan Entrepreneurship School (WES), with the first cohort of trainees receiving seed support of GHS 40,000 to launch their businesses.

The event took place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Christ the King Chapel, Anaji Estate in the Sekondi Diocese.

Delivering the welcome address, the Bishop of the Sekondi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Kwesi Ansah, said the school was established as part of the Methodist Entrepreneurship Development Programme to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and mindset required to succeed as entrepreneurs.

“This is a response to the conference decision on the Methodist Entrepreneurship Development Programme, which established an entrepreneurship school to equip participants with the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindset to succeed as entrepreneurs,” he stated.

He explained that participants were trained under an eight-module curriculum designed to help them establish and manage their own businesses, adding that the church was raising funds to provide at least GHS 300,000 in resources to further support the graduates.

Rt. Rev. Ansah also encouraged the graduands to embrace failure as part of the entrepreneurial journey, citing the story of Paul Galvin, who turned business setbacks into the foundation of the telecommunications company,  Motorola.

“Brothers and sisters in Christ, never forget that the call is higher than the fall. Look up and move on. Success lies ahead of you,” he admonished the graduands.

The Bishop further expressed appreciation to the school’s facilitators, including Rev. Dr. Solomon Nortey, Rev. Samuel Akwetey, Rev. John Ato-Hayford, Mr. Ebenezer Ebo-Yawson, and Mr. Makafui Abuga, for their commitment to training the first batch of entrepreneurs.

Gracing the occasion were the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, and the Lay President, Bro. Kwasi Attah-Antwi.

The Wesleyan Entrepreneurship School was established to raise a new generation of innovative entrepreneurs capable of creating sustainable businesses that drive economic growth and social impact.
