President Mahama Appoints Constitutional Review Committee to Overhaul Ghana’s 1992 Constitution
President John Mahama has inaugurated a Constitutional Review Committee to spearhead a comprehensive review of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution. The committee will focus on identifying gaps, challenges, and proposing amendments aimed at enhancing the country’s democratic governance.
Comprising distinguished experts and professionals, the committee will engage with various stakeholders to gather input and formulate actionable recommendations. Among the prominent members are Prof. H Kwasi Prempeh, Justice Sophia Adinyirah, and Prof. Kwame Karikari, among others.
The committee has been tasked with addressing issues identified in previous review efforts, including those by the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee. The committee’s recommendations are expected within five months for government consideration.
