Techiman Eleven Wonders Secure Dramatic Win Over Real Tamale United to Seal Ghana Premier League Return

Techiman Eleven Wonders sealed a dramatic return to the Premier League after three seasons away, edging Real Tamale United 2-1 in a gripping Access Bank Division One League playoff final on Friday May 30, 2025.

In a tense showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium, Farouk Ameyaw emerged as the hero, converting a 90th-minute penalty to send the Techiman-based side back to Ghana’s top flight. The match had looked destined for extra time before Ameyaw’s ice-cold finish sparked jubilant celebrations from the travelling fans.

Eleven Wonders struck first through Frank Awere, who found the net in the 13th minute to give his side a deserved early lead. Real Tamale United responded strongly in the second half, earning a penalty in the 67th minute which Blabala Bamon calmly converted to level the score and swing momentum in their favour.

With the match delicately poised and extra time looming, late drama ensued. Referee Selorm Yao Bless pointed to the spot after a handball by a Real Tamale United defender inside the box. Ameyaw stepped up and made no mistake, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to clinch a famous victory and write his name into Eleven Wonders folklore.

Both clubs entered the contest as champions of their respective Division One League zones, setting up a fiercely competitive decider to determine who would earn promotion to the Premier League. The match lived up to its billing, offering moments of quality, grit, and high drama.

For Techiman Eleven Wonders, this win marks a significant turnaround after three challenging seasons in the lower tier. Their return to the Premier League is a testament to their resilience, determination, and unwavering support from fans.
