Gyakie: I first considered a career in music in 2019
Sensational singer Jackie Acheampong, also known as Gyakie, has said she started paying attention to her voice and singing professionally in 2019.
She said her career peaked after recording her first song – ‘Love Is Pretty’ .
“I never actually paid attention to the fact that there was a unique voice … until I recorded my song ‘Love Is Pretty’ and then the journey started from there.”
“But my mum was always asking me to perform in front of her and her friends anytime they were around. I never understood why. I was also performing once a while at Sunday school,” she added
She explained that she needed that validation from others to see her voice as special, “I couldn’t hear myself as at that time, that there was something different about my voice. But when ‘Love Is Pretty’ dropped, nine out of ten comments everybody was saying the same thing; this is different, your voice is really nice. I mean people kept loving the music.”
