Maurice Revello Tournament: Black Satellites finish 11th out of 12 teams

The Black Satellites have finished 11th out of 12 participating teams in the Maurice Revello tournament in France after beating Saudi Arabia 2-1 in the eleventh place play-off game.

After missing out on qualification to the semi-final stage of the competition, Ghana had to play the Asian side in a ranking match to determine their position at the end of the tournament.

Isaac Mensah opened the scoring for the Black Satellites in the first half, then Jazeed Jawshan grabbed the equalizer for Saudi Arabia in the 71st minute before Salifu Abass Samari scored late in the 88th minute to secure the win for Ghana.

Ghana exited the competition in the group stage after failing to win any of their three games against Mexico, Venezuela and Indonesia and finished bottom of group B with just a point.

The tournament was meant to serve as a redemption ground for the boys, who were knocked out of the WAFU Zone B tournament as defending champions, missing out on a place in the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and the World U-20 World Cup.
