GSE: No Losers, Just Gains for GLD and MTN on Monday

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) on Monday, saw positive movements among equity gainers, with NewGold ETF (GLD) and MTNGH leading the way.

GLD registered a price gain of GHS 2.20, closing at GHS 404.56, while MTNGH gained GHS 0.04, ending the session at GHS 2.55. Both stocks will begin today’s trading at their respective closing prices of GHS 404.56 and GHS 2.55.

No losers were recorded at the close of the trading session.

Top Traded Equities

ETI, MTNGH, RBGH, SOGEGH, and DASPHARMA were the top traded equities for the day. ETI led the trade with the highest volume of 53,759 shares, valued at GHS 17,202.

MTNGH followed with 35,266 shares traded, resulting in a value of GHS 89,798.

Other notable trades included RBGH, which saw 5,069 shares changing hands for GHS 3,041, and SOGEGH with 758 shares traded, valued at GHS 1,137. DASPHARMA had the lowest trade volume, with 676 shares worth GHS 256.

Total volume and value of equities traded amounted to 96,421 shares and GHS 145,302.30 respectively.

Market Indices

The GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) rose by 42.67 points, closing at 4,945.54 points, reflecting a Year-To-Date (YTD) return of 1.17%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) remained unchanged at 2,385.96 points, with a YTD return of 0.22%.

Market capitalization for the day stood at GHS 112,272.49 million, slightly up from the previous week’s GHS 111,736.66 million.

Banking Equities

Financial stocks experienced minimal trading. Ecobank Ghana (EGH) recorded the trade of 8 shares worth GHS 52, with a closing price of GHS 6.50.

The bank’s market capitalization on the GSE is GHS 2.09 billion with 322.55 million issued shares.

Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) saw no trading activity and will begin today’s session at a share price of GHS 233, maintaining its market capitalization of GHS 3.09 billion with 134.76 million issued shares.

Mining Equities

Asante Gold’s stock price remained unchanged at GHS 8.89, as no trading occurred in the equity. The company’s market capitalization stands at GHS 4.17 billion, with 469 million issued shares.

In contrast, Atlantic Lithium Ghana (ALLGH) experienced some trading, with 118 shares sold at a price of GHS 6.12, totaling GHS 722.16 in value.

ALLGH’s market capitalization is pegged at GHS 4.24 billion, with 693 million issued shares.

Petroleum Equities

Downstream petroleum company GOIL recorded marginal trading activity, with 8 shares sold at a price of GHS 1.52, totaling GHS 12.16. GOIL will begin today’s session with the same price of GHS 1.52 and has a market capitalization of GHS 595.63 million, with 391.86 million issued shares.

Meanwhile, TotalEnergies saw no trading activity and will commence today’s trading at GHS 13.20. The company’s market capitalization is GHS 1.46 billion, with 111 million issued shares.

The equity market remains steady, with a mix of marginal and no trading across various sectors as we enter today’s trading session.
