WAFU B U17 Girls Cup: Ghana Thrash Benin 4-1 In Thrilling Opener

Ghana’s Black Maidens proved too strong for Benin after they eased their way to a comfortable 4-1 win in their opening game at the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup.

Priscilla Mensah opened the scoring for the Ghanaians before Christiana Ashiaku scored a sensational hat-trick to seal a decisive win at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram.

Mensah shot the Black Maidens ahead as early as the 6th minute before Christiana Ashiaku added the second in the 17th minute, and scored the third through the spot kick in the 44 minute before completing her sensational hattrick with a sublime finish on the stroke of full-time.

Benin scored a consolation through Yenido Gandonou in the second half. Benin put up a much-improved performance in the second half but failed to make their dominance count in an entertaining match at the GFA Technical Centre.

Following the withdrawal of Burkina Faso in Group A means, Ghana will take on Benin again in their second group game on Saturday, December 14.

The victory marks a strong start for Ghana in the competition, with Christiana Ashiaku emerging as the standout performer, showcasing her immense talent and goal-scoring prowess.
