“We Will Not Just Attend the World Cup, We Aim to Make an Impact” – Kofi Adams

Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has made a bold statement about the Black Stars’ ambitions for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing that the team is determined to be more than just participants. Following a stunning 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic in their penultimate qualifying match, Adams expressed confidence in the squad’s capabilities to leave a lasting impression on the global stage.

The emphatic win, held in Meknes, Morocco, brings Ghana to the brink of qualification for the World Cup, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Adams praised the team’s performance and highlighted the renewed sense of belief and purpose within the squad. “This victory has brought us within a point of qualification,” he noted, underscoring the significance of the result.

The Minister drew parallels between the current team and Ghana’s historic 2010 World Cup run, where the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals and captured the hearts of football fans worldwide. “We want to go there and let people feel our presence just the same way they did in South Africa in 2010,” Adams stated. “We will not just go to the World Cup to add to the numbers.”

With the team focused not only on qualifying but also on restoring national pride, Adams emphasized the importance of making a deep run in the tournament. The current squad is eager to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and reclaim their status as one of Africa’s football powerhouses.

The Black Stars will complete their qualification campaign with a crucial match against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium this Sunday. With the momentum from their recent victory, Ghana is poised to secure their place in the World Cup and aim for a memorable performance.
