ACCA members can help resolve current economic crisis – Audrey Kotey
Members and affiliates of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) can help resolve the country’s current economic crisis, the Chairperson for ACCA Ghana, Audrey Kotey has said.
Speaking at the ACCA Future Members’ Awards and Recognition on Friday, November 11, Ms Kotey noted ACCA members and affiliates are connected to a global pool of expertise and knowledge with which they can apply locally to rectify the challenges facing businesses and the economy at large.
“The current economic crisis is not something that we’ve seen before, it calls for innovation, it calls for accountants and finance professionals that are innovative and are able to think outside of the box and that’s what ACCA does.
“ACCA has a global network which our students, members and affiliates working various capacities are plugged into and that gives them the opportunity to share ideas globally,” she stated.
“The intention is that when they share those ideas globally, with networks in PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY and other companies, they will be able to take all the global expertise and all the global knowledge that they are getting, and plug it into our local economy.
“So ACCA members can use their skills, expertise and knowledge to help the country come out of whatever situation it is in at the moment. They are better positioned to think locally and to bring a global perspective to the problems we have,” she added.
The ACCA Future Members’ Awards and Recognition was to recognise members and affiliates that excelled locally and globally in the ACCA exams.
