Women’s Premier League Matchweek 6 Wrap: Hasaacas Ladies continue unbeaten run as Ampem Darkoa loses 

In the Southern Zone, champions Hasaacas Ladies cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win against Immigration Ladies to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

After a close contest which saw both sides push for the opener, Comfort Owusu made amends for the Champions in the 77th minute by scoring the opening goal.

The home side who showed desire and character failed to take their chances as they got punished in the 93rd minute through Veronica Appiah.  

Hasaacas Ladies are on top of the Southern Zone table with 15 points after six matches in the Women’s Premier League.

Another tight contest between Soccer Intellectuals and Berry Ladies ended goalless at the Asasan Park at Ajumako.

Intellectuals started in an explosive manner in search of the opener to unsettle the visitors but all attempts made were foiled by the backline of Berry Ladies.

Berry Ladies on few occasions came close to scoring but were erratic in the final third as the game ended 0-0. 

Police Ladies crashed to a 1-0 loss to Army Ladies at the Mac Dan La Town on Sunday. Patience Atswe Adjetey scored the only goal of the match in the 13th minute all the Army girls walked away with all the spoils.

Elmina based Sea Lions lost at home to Thunder Queens by a goal to nil. Juliet Abankwa scored the match winner for Thunder Queens in the 78th minute.

Elsehwere in the Northern Zone, Gertrude Amoafo scored a brace for Kumasi Sports Academy but wasn’t enough as Ashtown Ladies came from behind to snatch a draw in a four goal thriller on Saturday. 

Amoafo put the home side in front in the 9th minute and added the second just before the break to give KUSA a 2-0 lead at the break.

Back from recess, Ashtown Ladies came into the game strongly and got their reward through Fidaus Yakubu who pulled one back in the 54th minute to reduce the deficit. With 7 minutes of play remaining, Josephine Addowaa drew another blood for Ashtown Ladies to level things up with an 83rd minute strike.

Both sides threw in fresh legs in search of all the spoils but that came naught as the gamne ended 2-2 at the Bantama Astro Turf in Kumasi. 

Fabulous Ladies continued their sublime form with another victory on Match Day 6 as they beat zonal giants Ampem Darkoa Ladies 2-1 on Sunday. 

Princess Owusu broke the deadlock with a brilliant individual play in the 5th minute as they held on to go into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies committed players forward in search of the equalizer and got punished for leaving their back open as Princess Owusu smashed home the second goal of the match and her second of the day after latching on to a clever pass on the 70th minute mark.

Despite the second goal, Ampemn Darkoa Ladies continued to fight for redemption and eventually got rewarded in the 85th minute through an absolute wonder from Ophelia Serwaah but Fabulous Ladies kept to their toes as the game ended 2-1 in favour of them. 

Prisons Ladies lost 3-1 at home to Supreme Ladies at the Sunyani Coronation Park.  

Linda Owusu Ansah grabbed a brace for Supreme Ladies with Nancy Amoh adding the third as Mary Adobea made amends with a consolation for the home side.

Tamale based Pearl Pia Ladies recorded a 3-2 win against Dreamz Ladies in an away duel.  

Sarah Nyarko scored first for Dreamz Ladies but her goal wasn’t enough as Shahadu Rasheda, Fauzia Abdul Rashid and Georgina Aoyem netted consecutively to give Pearl Pia Ladies a 3-1 lead until Doreen Opoku reduced the deficit in the 79th minute for Dreamz Ladies to make it 3-2 at the Kokooase Astro Turf.

Finally on Friday, Northern Ladies drew 1-1 with Savannah Ladies in a local derby at the Aliu Mahama stadium in Tamale. Frederica Torkudzoe scored the first goal of the match in the 23rd minute before Abdul Hana Sakina cancelled that lead in the 44th minute as the game ended 1-1 in Tamale.
