President John Dramani Mahama has left Accra for New York, United States, to participate in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), which officially opens on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

The President is scheduled to deliver Ghana’s statement to the General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

As the African Union’s Champion for Financial Institutions, Mr Mahama will also host two major side events focused on Africa’s financial architecture and resource mobilisation.

His engagements in New York include high-level bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, as well as various heads of state and global leaders, among them the President of the Rockefeller Foundation.

First Lady, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, will join her husband on the trip and participate in events organised by the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD). She is also expected to deliver the keynote address at a special World Vision International prayer service dedicated to children worldwide.
