WAEC Releases Provisional Results for 2024 WASSCE Amid Delayed Payments

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The delay in releasing the results earlier was attributed to outstanding payments owed by the Ghanaian government to WAEC for services rendered.

In a statement, John K. Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, noted that following a recent payment by the government, the council was able to finalize and publish the results. Mr. Kapi had earlier assured the public that the results would be available by the end of December 2024.

A press release issued on Monday, December 30, confirmed that WAEC has provided login details to school heads nationwide, enabling them to access the results through the council’s official website.

Mr. Kapi advised the public to remain vigilant against fraudsters who may attempt to exploit the situation by offering fake results upgrades in exchange for money.

Addressing issues of examination malpractice, WAEC disclosed the following actions which include the cancellation of subject results for 4,108 candidates; annulment of entire results for 483 candidates, withholding of subject results for 781 candidates, and also withholding of entire results for 209 candidates.
