Cadillac Signs Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas for 2026 F1 Debut

Cadillac has officially announced its driver roster for its inaugural Formula 1 season in 2026, securing the talents of Grand Prix winners Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. The American team, backed by General Motors and led by former Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon, is set to make its mark as the 11th team on the F1 grid.

Both drivers, aged 35, bring a wealth of experience to the newly formed team, collectively boasting 527 Grand Prix starts and 16 victories. “Signing two very experienced racers like Bottas and Checo is a bold signal of intent,” Lowdon stated. “Their leadership and race-hardened instincts will be invaluable as we build this team.”

This announcement marks a remarkable return for Perez and Bottas, who lost their previous seats at the end of the last season. Perez, who spent the past years with Red Bull, expressed excitement about joining Cadillac, saying, “It’s an honor to be part of building a team that can develop together and fight at the very front.”

Bottas, a former Mercedes driver, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the unique opportunity to help shape a new team in F1. “This isn’t just a racing project; it’s a long-term vision,” he said. “To be part of a brand with a big legacy in American motorsport is incredibly special.”

Cadillac’s CEO, Dan Towriss, emphasized the significance of this announcement, stating that Perez and Bottas are not just accomplished racers but also builders and collaborators who will help define the team’s identity. GM President Mark Reuss added, “Together, we’re building a foundation for American motorsports that will create an extraordinary legacy for Cadillac and the sport.”
