Real Madrid Keeps Title Hopes Alive with Narrow Win Over Getafe

Real Madrid edged past Getafe with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday, thanks to a stunning goal from young talent Arda Guler. This crucial win keeps Madrid’s LaLiga title aspirations alive, narrowing the gap to four points behind leaders Barcelona.

Guler, the promising 18-year-old Turkey international, struck decisively midway through the first half with a powerful shot from outside the box. Despite Getafe’s goalkeeper David Soria getting a hand to the ball, Guler’s effort found the back of the net, igniting hope for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The victory comes on the heels of Barcelona’s own 1-0 win over Mallorca on Tuesday, intensifying the race for the championship as both teams prepare to face off in the Copa del Rey final this Saturday in Seville. Star forward Kylian Mbappe is expected to make his return from injury, adding further intrigue to the upcoming clash.

In his first league start, Brazilian striker Endrick impressed alongside established stars, while Jude Bellingham began the match on the bench. Madrid dominated early chances, with left-back Fran Garcia coming close twice—his first effort saved, and the rebound soaring over the bar.

Madrid’s persistence paid off when Guler capitalized on a chance that looked to be squandered by Brahim Diaz. After receiving the ball back, Guler unleashed a powerful drive that left Soria with no chance.

Despite Madrid’s control, Getafe had their moments, particularly in the second half. Mauro Arambarri wasted a golden opportunity, dragging his shot wide when unmarked in front of goal. Thibaut Courtois was called into action late in the match, making a crucial save during stoppage time to deny a close-range effort from Getafe substitute Alvaro Rodriguez, who is on loan from Madrid.
