Ghana Link Assures Stakeholders of ICUMS Data Integrity
Ghana Link Network Services Ltd, operators of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), has assured stakeholders in the shipping, logistics, and transport sectors that no data has been lost.
In response to concerns raised by the Transport Forum Ghana, Ghana Link in a statement dated February 24, 2025, clarified that the system interruption was a scheduled upgrade aimed at improving performance, data security, and storage efficiency.
Ghana Link confirmed that all attached documents and historical records from 2020 to 2024 remain securely stored and accessible. While some users may have experienced temporary access issues, the company assured that no data was compromised or lost during the process.
Planned System Upgrade, Not a Failure
Addressing speculation regarding the system downtime, Ghana Link emphasized that the October 23 event was neither a system failure nor a deliberate shutdown. Instead, it was a brief service interruption caused by a planned upgrade to enhance storage infrastructure and overall system efficiency.
The system was then restored within a short period, and operations resumed as expected.
Reaffirming its adherence to Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), Ghana Link assured stakeholders that no breach of data confidentiality had occurred. The system upgrade was executed with strict security protocols to safeguard trade data and ensure system reliability.
