Year-to-Date Fixed-Income Trading Volume on GSE Surges by 96% to 135 Billion
The Ghana Stock Exchange’s fixed-income market continued its upward trajectory in October 2024, ending the month with a total traded volume of 16.43 billion.
According to the GSE’s October Summary of Market Activities report, this represents a 5.86% increase in trading volume over the previous month and a significant 69.88% rise compared to October 2023.
Year-to-date figures showcase even stronger growth, with total trading volume reaching 135.19 billion—an impressive 96.24% increase from the 68.89 billion traded during the same period last year.
Treasury Bills for the month of October led trading activity on the fixed-income market accounting for 78.51% of total volume.
Government Bonds followed with a 19.50% share, while Corporate Bonds represented a smaller but steady portion of the market at 1.99%.
The robust performance of the fixed-income market reflects a continued investor preference for fixed-income securities, particularly government-backed instruments, and underscores growing confidence in the GSE’s fixed-income market as the year draws to a close.
