Yofi Grant named African Business Personality of the Year; GIPC is best FDI destination

Yofi Grant, the CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), has been named the African Business Personality of the Year 2022 by the prestigious International Investor Magazine. In addition, the GIPC was also awarded the Best FDI Destination in Africa for the year 2022.

The International Investor Magazine acknowledged Mr Grant’s three decades of successful career and experience in investment banking and finance as he heads the Ghana Investment Promotion Agency, which operates under the Office of the President of Ghana. The award also recognized his contributions as a Director representing Sub-Saharan Africa on the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) steering board. In this capacity, Mr. Grant collaborates with WAIPA partners to address some of the continent’s and the world’s most pressing issues, particularly in the areas of investment promotion, FDI attraction, and promoting open and free trade.

The award serves as a testament to the CEO’s unwavering commitment and exceptional leadership in promoting investment and attracting foreign direct investment to Ghana. Yofi Grant’s work at GIPC is to showcase Ghana as a safe, secure and investor-friendly destination that offers a stable environment for businesses to thrive. Under his leadership, the GIPC has implemented innovative strategies to increase foreign investments, particularly in strategic sectors of the economy. These efforts have not gone unnoticed, as Ghana has experienced significant growth in FDI over the years, attracting investments from various multinational companies.

Mr. Grant’s experience in financial markets and investment has helped him co-found several companies, including Grant Dupuis Investment Limited and Praxis Fortune Caliber. As a council member of the Continental Business Network of the African Union and a member of the board of trustees of the OACP Endowment and Trust Fund, he is committed to shaping the continent’s financial and economic transformation.

The Best FDI Destination in Africa award is a testament to Ghana’s continued efforts to position itself as a hub for investment and a leading destination for foreign direct investment. Ghana’s stable political environment, favourable business climate, and significant investment opportunities have contributed to its success in attracting foreign investments. The government’s efforts to implement reforms that promote ease of doing business and enhance the investment climate are yielding positive results.

The GIPC, under Mr. Grant’s leadership, has played a significant role in Ghana’s investment promotion efforts. The Centre has adopted innovative measures to attract foreign investments, including launching online investment portals and hosting international investment forums. These efforts have created a conducive environment for investors to conduct business in Ghana.

The International Investor Magazine’s recognition of Mr. Grant and the GIPC serves as a call to action for other African countries to emulate Ghana’s success in attracting foreign investment. The recognition is a testament to the critical role that investment promotion agencies play in attracting foreign investment and promoting economic growth in the continent.
