DG of GPHA makes important announcement as GPHA holds Thanksgiving Service

Staff and Management of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority have ended the year with a thanksgiving service to celebrate the goodness of God in the challenging year of 2022.

The colourful event characterized by praise and worship activities also was an opportunity for the Authority to pray for guidance and favour in the next year of business.

The Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority while recounting the successes and challenges of the year, thanked the staff of the Authority for their support in key sustainable reforms in the Authority.

“We have been able to embark on one of the most significant and painful reforms in GPHA’s history. Which is to think about Ghana and the welfare of every single Ghanaian. That is why we all joined hands to sacrifice overtime to use that to employ individual Ghanaians to join us as contract staff. This is a significant sacrifice that God himself will bless us for,” he stated.

The GPHA Boss also revealed that the 20% share of gateway container traffic to GPHA will take effect on the 1st of January, 2023.

“And thankfully we have made significant progress and effectively that whole 20% project is starting 1st January. Trust me, that journey certainly would not have been possible without you the employees of GPHA,” he acknowledged.

Michael Luguje also touched on developmental projects expected to bring a boost to Ghana’s fortunes in the shipping industry.

The GPHA Boss heaped praise on management and staff of the Authority who joined forces to complete the construction and commence the operations of the ultra-modern Dry Bulk Terminal at the Port of Takoradi which was initially intended to be concessioned to the private sector.

He said such a feat made GPHA ask government to allow the Port Authority develop the Oil and Gas Terminal at Takoradi which is already in the offing.
