Government Reduces Passport Application Fee to GHS350
Ghanaians will pay a reduced passport application fee of GHS350 effective Thursday, November 13, 2025, following a government decision to cut the cost from the previous GHS500.
The announcement was made by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who said the reduction forms part of broader government efforts to ease financial pressure on citizens and improve access to essential public services.
In a statement on Sunday, November 9, Mr. Ablakwa said the move delivers on government’s commitment to make travel documents more affordable and accessible for all Ghanaians.
“This reduction reflects our commitment to fairness, accessibility, and integrity in public service delivery. Every Ghanaian deserves affordable access to essential travel documents,” he stated.

Improving Access and Transparency
The new fee structure will apply across all Passport Application Centres (PACs) nationwide and covers standard passport application services.
According to the Minister, the adjustment is expected to encourage more citizens to apply through official channels and reduce reliance on middlemen and unauthorised agents who often exploit applicants through illegal facilitation services.
Government sources also indicate that additional reforms are being implemented to streamline passport processing, improve turnaround times, and digitise more aspects of the application process to boost efficiency and transparency.
Public Advisory
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has advised the public to use only authorised platforms for passport applications and to report any individuals or entities engaged in fraudulent passport-related activities.
The fee adjustment marks a significant step in government’s ongoing public service reform agenda aimed at enhancing accessibility, affordability, and accountability in the issuance of national documents.
