Sarkodie Sues Ecobank Ghana
Celebrated Ghanaian Hip-Life artiste, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has initiated legal proceedings against Ecobank Ghana, the country’s largest bank by asset valuation, over alleged infringement of his intellectual property rights.
The lawsuit, filed on March 25, 2025, accuses the bank of unlawfully using the musician’s image in connection with its products without his consent.
According to the details of the suit, Sarkodie is seeking a “perpetual injunction” restraining Ecobank Ghana from using or associating his image with any of its products and services. The artiste contends that the bank’s actions constitute a clear violation of his intellectual property rights.
In addition to the injunction, Sarkodie is also demanding the payment of damages as compensation for what seems to be the unauthorised commercial exploitation of his image.
As of the time of this reporting, Ecobank Ghana had not issued a formal response to the suit.
