GCB Bank crowns 70th Anniversary Celebrations with Thanksgiving Service reflecting on decades of financial excellence

GCB Bank culminated its 70th-anniversary celebrations with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, May 19, 2024, under the theme: “Thanking God For 70 Years of Providing Unrivaled Financial Solutions to the Socio-Economic Development of Ghana.”

The event was marked by reflections on the bank’s historical milestones and achievements, underscoring its resilience and dedication.

In his welcome address, Managing Director of GCB Bank, Kofi Adomako, emphasized the significance of the bank’s journey over the past seven decades.

He highlighted the institution’s growth through challenges and achievements, attributing its success to the dedication of its staff, the trust of its customers, and the leadership provided by its leaders and regulators.

“It is through these experiences that we have grown, learned, and emerged stronger. Our history is a testament to the dedication, resilience, and commitment of our staff, the trust of our customers, and the guidance of our leaders and regulators,” he noted.

Mr. Adomako further acknowledged that the bank’s journey has not always been smooth, but it is during moments of difficulty and uncertainty that the bank has experienced the most profound growth.

Asserting the bank’s resilience has forged the institution’s character and strengthened its resolve to serve customers, communities, and the nation with integrity and excellence.

Delivering the sermon at the Thanksgiving Service was the Founder and President of Eastwood Anaba Ministries, Reverend Eastwood Anaba, who urged GCB Bank to consider providing lower interest rates to individuals and businesses in rural communities to stimulate local economic growth.

Pastor Anaba further encouraged the bank to adopt what he termed “sacrificial banking” to support the growth of businesses and the broader economic development of Ghana.

GCB Bank, established in May 1953, has played a pivotal role in developing and transforming the local economy, offering financial services to Ghanaians across the country.

Over the years, the bank has assisted private and public institutions as well as individuals in achieving their financial goals and well-being.

Today, GCB Bank is recognized as a domestic systemically important bank, strategically positioned to provide essential financial services to both the private and public sectors.

It boasts the largest and fastest-growing customer base in the country, with 340 Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and 185 branches, making it the bank with the widest reach across Ghana’s 16 regions.

The Thanksgiving Service not only celebrated the bank’s past accomplishments but also reaffirmed its commitment to future growth and continued support for Ghana’s socio-economic development.

The reflections and insights shared during the event underscore GCB Bank’s unwavering dedication to its mission and the critical role it plays in the nation’s financial landscape.
