Alleged $1m offer for activism cessation by Oliver Barker-Vormawor denied by National Security Ministry

The Ministry of National Security has issued a statement addressing allegations made by Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the Convenor of the Fix the Country Movement.

In a viral post, Barker-Vormawor claimed that the Minister for National Security offered him $1,000,000.00 to cease his activism.

The Ministry strongly denies these allegations and emphasizes that no such offer of money was made to persuade the Fix the Country Movement to end its activism.

The Ministry acknowledges that in 2021, the Ministers for National Security and Finance, along with other relevant stakeholders, engaged with the convenors of the Fix the Country Movement to listen to their concerns. However, they maintain that no inducement was offered to stop the group’s activism.

The Ministry has therefore challenged Oliver Barker-Vormawor to produce any recording of the said inducement, implying that they believe no such evidence exists.

The Ministry also urges the general public to disregard the allegations and treat them with contempt, asserting that they view these accusations as baseless and meant to deceive the people of Ghana.
