GSE indices gain of 24.5% results in year-high market capitalisation of Ghs 62.8 billion

Market capitalisation of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) at the end of trading session on Monday hit a year-high of Ghs 62.89 billion.

The year-high market capitalisation of Ghs 62.89 billion represents a year-to-date growth of 15.67 percentage points in the local bourse’s market value.

The increase in the exchange’s market value was occasioned by 9.42 percent and 15.09 percent gains recorded in the Ghana Stock Exchange Composite Index (GSE-CI) and the Ghana Stock Exchange Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI)GSE respectively.

The gains in the two indices were on the back price gains in four (4) equities.

The GSE-CI and GSE-FSI have both returned 41.60 percent and 8.21 percent year-to-date returns to investors.

Meanwhile, traded volumes on the exchange on Monday almost doubled to 1,025,565 shares valued at GH¢556,879.68 compared to Friday’s traded volume of 645,246 shares valued at GH¢830,573.87 with fifteen (15) equities changing hands. 

CAL Bank recorded the lion’s share of trades in both volume and value as it accounted for 80.7 percent of the total value traded.
