Michael Rathgeb, a redundant General Manager of the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel through his legal counsel has requested that management of the multinational hotel review contents of certain publications that have impugned his name and reputation.

According to the legal representative of Mr Rathgeb, the contents of the online publications have adversely affected their client personally, professionally and economically.

In the letter to the management of the hotel sighted by norvanreports, the legal counsel of Mr Rathgeb request that the latter’s former position be rectified and Mr Rathgeb be reinstated as the hotel’s General Manager, especially when no formal investigations have been carried out by management of the hotel to ascertain the truthfulness of the assertions made against Mr Rathgeb in the several media reportage.

A further perusal of the letter by norvanreports, reveal that Mr Rathgeb via his legal counsel has requested for an engagement with management of the hotel for a peaceful resolution of the matter to avoid unnecessary fiscal costs in pursuing judicial or other similar methods by the hotel in rectifying this unacceptable and unfair issue.

Some staff of the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra – predominantly the Ghanaian staff of the hotel – in April 2019 laid down their tools in protest over what they described as racial discrimination against them by the management of the hotel.

The Ghanaian staff, numbering about a hundred, who pitched camp at the reception of the hotel amidst drumming and war songs accused the then General Manager of the hotel, Mr Michael Rathgeb of overseeing the racist treatment meted out to them and called for his immediate dismissal.

The agitated staff accused Mr Rathgeb of repeatedly treating them unfairly compared to their co-workers who were expatriates when punishment for wrongdoing in the company was being meted out.
