Emirates Airlines to resume Dubai-Accra-Dubai flights on this date

AviationGhana sources have confirmed that barring any last minute change, Emirates Airlines is to resume the Dubai-Accra-Dubai flights this week, after two weeks of temporary flight suspension, as part of a raft of measures by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to contain the  spread of Omicron variant of COVID-19.

The sources say, the planned resumption of flights is accompanied by new travel protocols that passengers must adhere to.

All passengers travelling from Ghana must be fully vaccinated in line with Ghana Health Service (GHS) protocols.

Travelers are expected to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate with a QR code for a test conducted at an approved facility within 48 hours of departure; validity must be calculated from the time the sample was collected.

Passengers are also required to take another test at the Kotoka International Airport six (6) hours before departure and present the results of the rapid or real time PCR.

Upon arrival in Dubai, passengers will also undergo COVID-19 test and must remain in self-quarantine until they receive the test results.

Background

Emirates Airlines extended the initial 48-hours ban for flights from Accra to Dubai indefinitely on December 28, 2021.

“Emirates flight suspension from Accra to Dubai effective December 27, 2021 is now extended until further notice,” the airline said in its urgent broadcast sent to trade partners on Tuesday December 28, 2021.

The airline, however, said Dubai to Accra flights will, however, continue for passengers holding confirmed bookings and meeting the entry requirements for Accra. The carriage of passengers to and from Abidjan has also been suspended.
