betPawa GPL: Aduana FC, Asante Kotoko play out a goalless draw in top of the table clash

Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko played out a goalless draw on Sunday in what was a battle for first place but both teams couldn’t find the win stay and in their respective league positions.

With 6 wins, 1 draw and two defeats in the League, Aduana FC went into the game on top of the League table with 19 points – two points clear off their Kotoko after nine round of matches.

Asante Kotoko were second after 5 wins, two draws and 2 losses, managing 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in their last five games.

The last time porcupines visited Dormaa, they walked away with all three points following a 2-0 win during the era of Dr. Proper Nartey Ogam.

In their last four meetings, Aduana FC have recorded one victory with Kotoko also having a win to their credit as the other two games have ended in a draw.

The likes of Derrick Afeson, Sam Adams, Joseph Addo, Emmanuel Gyamfi were all available for selection whiles Yussif Mubarick, Geoges Mfegue, Steven Mukwala and Justice Blay looked set to start for Kotoko.

The Reds missed the services of Sherif Mohammed, Danlad Ibrahim and Augustine Agyapong – the trio who are on national duty with the Black Galaxies in Egypt.

The game was a perfectly balanced one but Kotoko would be the bitter side as Aduana FC escaped a red card.  Former Asante Kotoko captain Emmanuel Gyamfi should have been sent off after two red card offences in a matter of seconds.

Gyamfi stamped on Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare’s foot and then threw punches at Justice Blay when confronted by the midfielder but referee Mohammed Misbau ruled that both were not red card worthy, with Gyamfi remaining on the field.

A red card could have tilted the game in favour of Kotoko, who would have jumped Aduana to the top of the table with a win but that was not to be as the game ended barren.

A win for Hearts of Oak against Bechem United on Monday will see the champions drop to third place while Aduana FC maintain their lead.
