Stock Market Takes a Dip: GSE Composite Index down by 86.93 points

The Ghanaian stock market saw a downturn this week, with the GSE Composite index closing 86.93 points lower at 2,342.62 points and a year-to-date return of minus 4.14%.

Meanwhile, the GSE Financial Stock Index saw a decline of 22.84 points, ending the week at 2,018.12 points and a year-to-date return of minus 1.68%.

Out of the 23 equities traded, only one recorded a price increase, with TOTAL gaining GH¢0.05 to close at GH¢4.06 per share.

On the other hand, five stocks recorded price declines, led by GCB, which lost GH¢0.39 to close at GH¢3.51 per share.

UNIL also saw a decline of GH¢0.33 to close at GH¢2.25.

The decrease in market capitalization, amounting to GH¢949.18 million, brought the total to GH¢63.60 billion at the end of the trading week.

The volume of shares traded increased by 30.08%, reaching 902,475 shares with a value of GH¢827,347.05. However, trade turnover saw a 46.12% decrease.

SIC was the most traded stock during the week, while MTNGH accounted for 31.63% of the total value traded.
