Abdul Aziz Issah Nominated for CAF Goal of the Year Award
Talented forward Abdul Aziz Issah, now playing for Barcelona, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Goal of the Year award at the #CAFawards24. His stunning long-range finish against AFC Lobito in the CAF Confederation Cup has caught the attention of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Issah’s goal faces stiff competition from other nominees, including Aboubakari Koita of Mauritania, Denis Omedi of Kitara FC, Ibrahim Adel of Mauritania, Kevin Pina of Cape Verde, Mabululu of Angola, Nene Dorgeles of Mali, Said Benrahma of Algeria, Sebastien Haller of Côte d’Ivoire, Wessam Abou Ali of Al Ahly, and Yassine Benzia of Algeria.
The shortlist, created by an expert CAF Technical Panel, features 11 goals scored in CAF competitions between January and October 2024, showcasing the incredible talent across the continent. Fans can participate in the voting process, which opens today and ends on Thursday, 12 December 2024.
To facilitate the voting, CAF has launched a dedicated platform available on its website and official social media channels. Each fan’s vote will count for 70% of the overall score, while the remaining 30% will come from CAF’s Technical Experts.
The winner will be announced during the glamorous CAF Awards Gala, scheduled for Monday, 16 December 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco. This category stands out as the only CAF award influenced by public input, highlighting the power of fans in determining the winner.
