AfCFTA a blessing to Ghanaian entrepreneurs, businesses – Dr Bawumia
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has described as a blessing, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) pact to Ghanaian entrepreneurs and businesses in the country.
According to the Vice President, Ghanaian entrepreneurs and businesses in the country must take advantage of the enormous opportunities presented by the Continental Trade Pact to grow and expand their operations.
“AfCFTA is a blessing to Ghanaian entrepreneurs, businesses must use all the available opportunities to expand and grow into other African markets,” remarked the Minister for Sports, Mustapha Yusif who delivered the address on behalf of the Vice President at the 6th Ghana Business Awards event.
Ghana is currently the host of the Secretariat of the Continental Trade Pact which has created the largest free trade area in the world measured by the number of countries participating.
The pact connects 1.3 billion people across 55 countries with a combined gross domestic product (GDP) valued at US$3.4 trillion.
AfCFTA has the potential to lift 30 million people out of extreme poverty, but achieving its full potential will depend on effective policy reforms and trade facilitation measures.
Touching on the theme for the event, the Sports Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to boosting growth in the country’s tourism, arts, and culture sector.
“Government is always ready to support businesses that focus on promoting tourism, arts, and culture in the country,” noted the Sports Minister.
The theme for the 6th Ghana Business Awards dubbed, “The Role of Businesses In Promoting Tourism, Arts and Culture” is in line with the Government’s goal of facilitating the growth and expansion of the sector.
