AFCON: Government to limit number of Black Stars’ supporters at tournament
Ghana’s Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Nsiah Asare, has disclosed that government will limit the number of supporters who will travel to Cameroon to support the Black Stars at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament which kicks off on January 9 will see Ghana get things started in Group C on Monday January 10 against Morocco in Yaounde.
Dr Nsiah Asare indicated that the number of supporters traveling to Cameroon will be limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“CAF has it regulations and they will make sure the number of people attending the tournament is reduced”, he told Happy FM.

“We will also make sure we adhere strictly to the CAF rules. Whatever CAF will direct we will make sure we adhere to it directly. I am not sure more people will go like the previous edition”, he added.
The AFCON tournament will see 24 nations battling it out for the ultimate trophy and will span from Sunday January 9 to Saturday February 6.
The Black Stars have won the AFCON on four occasions dating back to 1982 when they beat Libya on penalties.
It’s been 40 years since the trophy last landed in Ghana and Milovan Rajevac and his men are full of optimism to end that long standing years of trophy drought.
