  • Arsenal Consider Move for Vinicius Junior as Real Madrid Contract Talks Stall

Premier League champions Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing Brazilian star Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid in what could become one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.

The Gunners are understood to be monitoring the 26-year-old winger’s situation closely as uncertainty continues to surround his future at the Santiago Bernabéu. Vinicius has entered the final year of his current contract, and negotiations over a new deal have yet to produce a breakthrough.

Although discussions remain at an early stage and no formal contact has been made between the two clubs, the idea of bringing the Brazilian international to North London reportedly has support within Arsenal’s hierarchy as manager Mikel Arteta seeks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Arsenal are believed to be considering several attacking targets, but Vinicius has emerged as one of the most high-profile names on their shortlist. Any potential move, however, would depend largely on whether the winger signs a contract extension with Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are unlikely to allow one of their biggest stars to leave easily. Losing Vinicius for free at the end of his contract would represent a major setback, especially with the player also due a significant loyalty bonus should he remain at the club for another season.

Vinicius remains one of the most influential players in world football and enjoyed another productive campaign in 2025/26. He scored 22 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid, although the club endured a disappointing season, finishing second in La Liga behind rivals Barcelona and ending the campaign without silverware for the second successive year.

The Brazilian also impressed on the international stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He featured in all five of Brazil’s matches and scored four goals before the South Americans were eliminated by Norway in the Round of 16.

Since joining Real Madrid from Brazilian side Flamengo in 2018, Vinicius has developed into one of the club’s modern greats. Over eight seasons, he has made 375 appearances, scoring 128 goals and providing 100 assists, underlining his status as one of Europe’s most effective attacking players.

For Arsenal, signing a player of Vinicius’ quality would represent a major statement of intent as they aim to compete for domestic and European honours. However, much will depend on developments in Madrid, where contract negotiations over one of football’s biggest stars are set to attract increasing attention in the coming weeks.

With the transfer window still open, Arsenal supporters will be watching closely to see whether interest in Vinicius develops into a serious pursuit or remains an ambitious dream.
