AshantiGold sacks head coach Ernest Thompson
Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold SC has parted ways with their coach Ernest Thompson Quartey barely two months after his appointment.
The Obuasi based club are the first to sack their coach this season as they showed the former Ebusua Dwarfs gaffer the exit door.
The news comes after his side’s 2-0 defeat to King Faisal last Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Matchweek 3 of the ongoing season.
He was appointed as the coach of the club in September on a two-year contract after taking over from interim coach Thomas Duah.
The miners have picked up four points from a possible nine points in three games against Eleven Wonders, Karela United and King Faisal.
They beat Eleven Wonders by 1-0 at home on Matchday 1, drew 1-1 away at Tarkwa to Karela United in Matchday 2 and lost away at the Baba Yara Stadium to King Faisal by 2-0.
The miners currently sit ninth on the league table scoring two goals and conceding three.
According to reports the club has appointed Thomas Duah as the interim coach of the club until they appoint a substantive coach.
