Awako is not happy at Hearts of Oak and wants to leave, says Coach Annor Walker
Great Olympics head coach Annor Walker has disclosed that Hearts of Oak signee, Gladson Awako, is not happy at the club and wants a move back to his former team, the Accra Great Olympics.
Gladson Awako joined Hearts of Oak on a two-year deal in August 2021 from city rivals Great Olympics but is yet to feature for the Phobians after a plethora of personal issues that have resulted in the club excusing him from training duties.
Before his departure to Accra Hearts of Oak, there were wide speculations in the media regarding why he was joining the Premier League champions. According to media reports he was joining Hearts of Oak because the club needed his pool of experience in African Club competitions. But that hasn’t seen the light of the day as he is yet to make an appearance after two qualifying games.

His former coach, Annor Walker, said the player wants to quit the Ghana Premier League champions altogether and favours a return to Olympics.
“Awako has informed me he is not happy and does not want to play for Hearts of Oak again so I am doing everything possible to bring him back to Olympics,” he told Omytv.
”He said he is not ready to play for Hearts of Oak again and that he wishes he is with me, so I am speaking with management to try and bring him back,“ he added.
Hearts of Oak will depart Accra for Casablanca on Thursday ahead of Sunday’s second leg tie against Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Champions League last round of qualifiers.
