FirstBank Ghana Hosts Maiden Firstmonie Agents Forum in Tamale

FirstBank Ghana has held its maiden FirstMonie Agents Forum in Tamale, bringing together agents, insurance partners, and key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and enhance financial inclusion efforts in the Northern Region. The event took place at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium recently.

The forum, which attracted about 60 participants, was designed to officially introduce FirstBank’s Gold Standard of Banking experience to its newly recruited FirstMonie agents and prospective partners. The discussions focused on emerging trends in electronic financial solutions, the role of mobile money agents in promoting financial inclusion, opportunities to increase agents income, and the benefits of adopting GhanaPay services.

FirstBank Ghana’s Tamale Branch Manager, Mohammed Kulendi, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to the Northern Region, stressing that FirstBank is here to stay and will continue to serve the community with trust, transparency, and sustainable partnerships. He urged agents and participants to remain vigilant by reporting suspected cases of money laundering and putting in place preventive measures to curb fraud and security threats.

FirstBank’s agent banking network is a key component of the Bank’s mission to extend financial services to every corner of Ghana. The initiative focuses on recruiting local agents within the unbanked communities to provide essential banking services. These agents enable community members to perform transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, bill payments, inter-bank transfers, airtime purchases and so on.

Mr. Martin Addison, FirstBank Ghana Agent Banking Network Supervisor emphasized that the FirstMonie offering seeks to broaden the reach of financial services delivery. He said the forum was aimed at equipping the agents to bridge the gap to accessing financial services for communities and enable the provision of easy and affordable banking services to the unbanked and underbanked population.

Representatives from GhanaPay spoke about how agents can diversify their income by encouraging customers to use the GhanaPay platform.
