betPawa GPL: Asante Kotoko rally from behind to beat Chelsea; Legon Cities thump Kotoku Royals
Kumasi Asante rallied from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Berekum Chelsea in their Matchday 9 fixture on Wednesday.
Goals from Stephen Mukwala and Serge Zeze powered Kotoko to a crucial victory which takes the defending champions back to second place on the league log.
The Porcupine Warriors headed into the game from a defeat to Real Tamale United before the World Cup induced break and had the hopes of a win dampened as they were punished for their wastefulness in the first half as Emmanuel Sarpong’s got the opening goal.
The forward capitalised on a poor clearance from Andrews Appau and slotted the ball pass Ibrahim Danlad to put the visitors in front.
The Porcupine Warriors however survived the threats as Serge Zeze who came off the bench, restored parity in the 45th minute to keep Kotoko on track.
Stephen Mukwala scored the much needed goals as Kotoko completed the come back,with the forward registering his second league goal of the seasonin the 66th minute.
The win sends the champions back to second spot and sets up a thrilling encounter with league leaders Aduana FC on 1st January, 2023.
Legon Cities handed Oda Kotoku Royals their sixth straight defeat of the season following a 3-0 win at the Cape Coast Stadium on Wednesday.
A goal in each half of the match ensured the Royals returned to winning ways after two winless matches.
Cities skipper Jonah Attuquaye scored his first goal of the season to put the visitors ahead in the 28th minute. Cities doubled their advantage through Kordzi scoring from the spot as Alex Aso rounded off the massive victory for Cities with a goal in stoppage time.
