Hearts of Oak showed their resilience as they bounced back to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nsoatreman at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Phobians were guns blazing from minute one, forcing an own goal from midfielder Philip Ofori in the 15th minute, before cementing their lead through Yaw Baafi in the 66th minute.
The away side pulled one back just two minutes later, setting up a tense finish to the game. However, they finished the game with 10 men as Ransford Asokwah was sent off in the latter parts of the game.
In the end, Hearts of Oak held on to secure a crucial three points and enhance their title aspirations, while Nsoatreman’s winless run extended to four games.
In other matches, King Faisal pulled further away from the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Dreams FC.
Issah Kuka was the star of the day as Real Tamale United produced a five-star performance to thrash Bibiani Gold Stars 5-1.
Medeama moved up to second place after defeating Karela United 1-0 thanks to a first-half penalty converted by Vincent Atingah.
Legon Cities also moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 victory over Kotoku Royals, with Michel Otou scoring a second-half brace.
Accra Lions’ winless run extended to five games as they lost to Samartex 1-0.
