betPawa GPL: Richmond Ayi grabs headlines as Hearts lose 3-0 to Karela United
Accra Hearts of Oak lost 0-3 to Karela United at the CAM Park in Aiyinase in the latest round of betPawa Ghana Premier League games but it was goalkeeper Richmond Ayi who grabbed the headlines for his awkward appearance for the game as player’s face and hair was covered with a white substance.
The unusual look has raised eyebrows with some attributing it to black magic, also known as “Juju”. However, it is unknown why the goalkeeper made the decision to cover his face in powder.
While it is unclear why Ayi decided to cover his face with white powder, his decision has been heavily criticized on social media, with many describing it as backward and unacceptable in modern football.
The 25 year old shot stopper’s look struck a familiar tone to former Hearts of Oak winger Patrick Razak who spotted a similar look in a game in the 2021-2022 season.
Emmanuel Boakye and Richard Berko scored in the 17th and 87th minute respectively for Karela United and Hearts defender Konadu Yiadom scored an own goal in the 32nd minute to condemn the Phobians to a heavy defeat.
The loss is the first for Hearts since assistant coach David Ocloo took over lead tactical duties from head coach Slavko Matic whose has been away from the team since a run in with a group of fans at the team’s Pobiman facility in the lead up to a crucial game against arch rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
