BoG receives $750m Afreximbank loan
Reports indicate that the Bank of Ghana [BoG] has taken hold of the anticipated $750m from the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).
The loan is said to have finally hit the account of the BoG on Thursday, August, 25 2022.
Government is primarily looking forward to use this money to finance some infrastructure projects such roads, energy, railways, and health sectors.
These projects are those outlined in the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Government.
However, the Bank of Ghana will take the dollars and give the cedi equivalent to government.
This will go a long to boost the Central Bank’s reserves, a move that could help slow down the rate of depreciation of the cedi against the dollar.
