CAF Champions League: Preview of Hearts of Oak v Wydad Athletic Club clash today
Ghana Premier League champions, Accra Hearts of Oak, have a herculean task in their CAF champions League qualifiers today at the Accra Sports Stadium against Wydad Athletic Club (WAC).
The Phobians saw off Guinean champions CI Kamsar 2-0 in the first round of the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium and that resulted in their match with Wydad Athletic Club.
Samuel Boadu’s players are preparing vigorously ahead of what will be an upset if they beat WAC after playing international friendlies against some lower tier clubs in the country.
The Moroccans, on the other hand, are cruising high in the Moroccan Botola premiership, at top spot after amassing 13 points in five games.
Walid Regrahui’s men have showcased a solid and formidable defensive unit, allowing in only two goals and keeping four clean sheets in their five league games so far this season.

This sends a strong message to the Phobian attack as they will have to be at their very best if they are to break the Wydad back line.
Hearts of Oak will be going into this game with a lot of eyes on their left footed genius Salifu Ibrahim who has been the creative hub for Samuel Boadu’s side with his passing ability and his eye catching technique on set pieces and which makes him a threat to Wydad.
28 year old Tanzanian, Simon Msuva on the other hand will be the player to look out for in the Wydad set up. He is a vibrant forward who enjoys being part of a build up to a goal as much as he enjoys scoring and already has a goal and two assists to his name so far this season.
It is uncertain as to whether Gladson Awako will be playing for the Phobians, but Emmanuel Nettey will miss the clash after picking a muscle injury.
The match will be played today, October 17, 2021, at exactly 3pm, at the Accra Sports Stadium with 2,000 fans expected to be in attendance.
