CAF Confederation Cup: Hearts of Oak to face Real Bamako of Mali
Accra Hearts of Oak will play Real Bamako of Mali in the second round of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederations Cup after been given a bye in the first preliminary round of qualifiers.
Last season’s MTN FA Cup champions will travel to Mali on the weekend of October 7-9, 2022 for the first leg encounter with the return leg set for the Accra Sports Stadium on the weekend of October 14-16, 2022.
Real Bamako, who also won the 2021/2022 Malian Cup, qualified from the first round by beating AS Douanes of Burkina Faso 3-1 on penalties at the Stade Modibo Kéïta in Bamako, after a goalless aggregate score.
The winner of the Hearts and Real Bamako tie will move to the play-off round where they will take on one of the sixteen losers from the CAF Champions League second round.
Hearts of Oak are Ghana’s only representative in Africa following Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League.
The Phobians will be hoping to bounce back from last season’s disappointing results as they were eliminated by JS Saoura of Algeria in the last qualifying round of this same competition.
