Christian Atsu honoured with a mural in Tema
Late Ghana international Christian Atsu has been honoured with a mural at the Awudu Issaka Park in Tema.
The former Black Stars winger was confirmed dead last Saturday after being found under rubble following an earthquake that struck in Turkey two works before.
While tributes continue to pour in for the former AFCON player of the tournament from around the world with loved ones commiserating with the family of Atsu at his residence in Accra, Kingsley Kofi Deffor, a mural artist, who happens to be a big fan of Atsu decided to honour the deceased footballer with a mural of him.
Speaking in an interview with Media General’s 3Sports on what motivated him, he revealed that Atsu has once been his source of joy.
“It came into my mind that, if I get a wall, I will do a mural of him [Atsu] to honour him because he has made us happy before.
“There was a goal he scored that I was really really happy. He scored the goal from the touchline. He just kick the ball from that line straight into the pole [goalpost] made me happy and it was amazing I was like woo, this guy.”
Atsu played for Feyenoord and Cheetah FC in Ghana before joining Porto abroad to continue his trade.
