- CIMG Recognises Abena Amoah’s Role in Strengthening GSE’s Market Position
The Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange, Abena Amoah, has been named the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana’s Marketing Woman of the Year for 2025, recognising her leadership in strengthening the Exchange’s corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement and strategic positioning.
Ms Amoah received the award at CIMG’s 37th Annual National Marketing Performance Awards, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on October 17, 2026.
The award recognised the GSE’s performance under her leadership across several areas, including the use of marketing insights, people management, corporate reputation, corporate social responsibility and sound marketing management.
Her recognition places attention on an increasingly important dimension of capital-market development: the ability of financial institutions to communicate their relevance to businesses, investors and the wider public.
Although a stock exchange primarily provides infrastructure for raising and trading capital, its effectiveness also depends on public confidence, investor education and the ability to persuade companies to use the market.
For the GSE, strategic marketing therefore extends beyond corporate promotion. It involves explaining investment opportunities, deepening financial literacy, attracting new listings and helping enterprises understand how the capital market can finance growth.
Ms Amoah’s award also reflects the importance of stakeholder relationships in an industry built heavily on trust. The Exchange works with listed companies, brokerage firms, fund managers, regulators, institutional investors and retail market participants whose confidence is necessary for an effective market.
The GSE said the honour acknowledged the organisational excellence demonstrated under Ms Amoah’s leadership and distinguished her as a leading corporate achiever during 2025.
Her recognition comes as the Exchange continues efforts to broaden participation in Ghana’s capital market, improve market visibility and position securities-market financing as an alternative to traditional bank credit.
That mandate has become particularly important as Ghana seeks to mobilise more domestic capital for businesses, infrastructure and economic transformation.
A deeper capital market can provide companies with patient financing while giving households and institutions more options for saving and investment. Achieving that outcome, however, requires institutions such as the GSE to make market products more accessible and understandable.
Leadership in marketing therefore becomes part of market development itself. Companies are more likely to list when they recognise the strategic value of public capital, while individuals are more likely to invest when they understand available instruments, potential returns and associated risks.
The award further underscores the relationship between institutional reputation and market confidence. A stock exchange must not only operate efficient systems but also maintain credibility, transparency and consistent engagement with its stakeholders.
The Ghana Stock Exchange thanked its partners and stakeholders for the support it continues to receive, indicating that the award reflected a broader institutional effort rather than the work of one individual alone.
“We say a big thank you to all our partners and stakeholders like you for the massive support the GSE continues to enjoy from you,” the Exchange said.
The Marketing Woman of the Year award is one of the major individual honours presented by CIMG and recognises leadership that applies marketing principles to organisational growth, reputation and stakeholder value.
For Ms Amoah, the recognition adds to her profile as one of the leading figures in Ghana’s financial and capital-market industry.
For the GSE, it provides external validation of the institution’s efforts to present the capital market not as an exclusive arena for financial professionals, but as an important platform through which Ghanaian businesses can raise capital and investors can participate in the country’s economic growth.
