Power transmission company, the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), says a cut off in gas supply to some of its power generating plants was responsible for the power outage experienced in some parts of the country.

Issuing a press release following the power outage on Wednesday, March 3 at 6am, GRIDCo stated that the power outage was due to the closure of an emergency valve at the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo).

“Key stakeholders in the power value chain including WAPCo are currently working to restore gas supply shortly,” stated GRIDCo.

“Meanwhile, arrangements have been made for other generating plants to come online to restore supply to affected areas,” added GRIDCo.
