Commonwealth Games: Azamati misses out on 100m medal, Team Ghana guaranteed two medals
Ghanaian sprinter Benjamin Azamati placed 4th in the men’s 100m finals with a time of 10.16s at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The national 100m record holder was hoping to at least win a bronze medal, but a not-so-good start cost him the opportunity to mount the podium.

In boxing, Joseph Commey managed to make the semi-finals of the 54-57KG (Featherweight) boxing eventHe defeated Alex Mukuka of New Zealand. By virtue of reaching the Semis Ghana is assured of at least a bronze medal.
Commey’s colleague Abdul Omar Wahid beat Alston Ryan of Antigua & Bermuda to qualify for the medal zone.
Two bronze medals are assured for Ghana and those medals could turn to silver or gold depending on how well they do in the semi-finals.
In the women’s Table Tennis singles, Cynthia Kwabi lost 4-0 to Rebecca Plaistow of Scotland. Another Ghanaian lady Millicent Ankunde lost to South Africa Musfiquh Kalam 4-1.
In the men’s division in the same sport, Derek Abrefa beat Moosa Munsif Ahmed 4-0.
Ghana beach Volleyball team also lost 2-1 to Kenya in their second game
In Hockey, Ghana men’s team lost 4-1 to Wales.
