Da Rocha stabbed me in the back – Sacked Ashgold coach Ernest Thompson discloses
Former coach of Ashantigold, Ernest Thompson has disclosed that Brazilian tactician Ricardo Da Rocha is responsible for his sacking.
The former Ebusua Dwarfs gaffer was shown the exit after three matches in charge in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
According to Ernest Thompson Quartey, his dismissal was led by the club’s Brazilian technical director, who he warned the club President against.
“I will advise Dr Kwaku Frimpong to send Da Rocha away or else he will destroy his team. The presence of Da Roach will make any coach who goes to the club not succeed. He has no certificate to work. He stabbed me in the back,” he told Happy FM.
“I had a good personal relationship with everyone at AshantiGold and had no problem with anyone. Da Rocha is a friend to the club president so he tells him things he (president) wants to hear.”

“I was really disappointed when I got the information to leave the job but life goes on. As a coach, you are hired and to be fired. So it’s normal.”
Ernest Thompson lead Ashanti Gold to beat Eleven Wonders by 1-0 at home in Techiman on Matchday 1, drew 1-1 away at Tarkwa to Karela United in Matchday 2 and lost away at the Baba Yara Stadium to King Faisal by 2-0.
The results meant he had amassed four points from a possible nine after three games and had played two away matches with Ashanti Gold currently sitting ninth on the league table scoring two goals and conceding three.
